Margarida Martins-Querido is a dynamic and passionate real estate professional who blends
business acumen with a deep commitment to community service. She holds a Bachelor's
degree in Human Services with a concentration in Business Administration, equipping her with
a comprehensive understanding of the human and financial aspects of real estate.
Currently, Margarida serves as the President of OpSail Connecticut , the First Vice President
of the Women’s Council of Realtors of Eastern Connecticut, and is a Board Director at the
Riverfront Children’s Center, where she advocates for quality early childhood education for
working families. Her leadership extends to numerous civic and professional organizations. She
is a dedicated committee member for Community Outreach, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
(DEI), and Legislative Affairs at the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors (ECAR).
Margarida is also an active member of the Military Affairs Council at the Chamber of
Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and proudly serves as an Ambassador for the Greater
Mystic Chamber of Commerce.
Her professional journey includes eight years in the Finance Department of a pharmaceutical
company, as well as experience as a business owner—both of which sharpened her financial
expertise and entrepreneurial mindset. Margarida became a homeowner 15 years ago, a pivotal
moment that sparked her passion for real estate and helping others achieve the dream of
homeownership.
For the past 25 years, she has called New London County home, relocating there when her
husband was stationed at the Naval Submarine Base New London. Originally from France, she
began her U.S. journey in Rhode Island and has since made Eastern Connecticut her lifelong
community.
A certified Military Relocation Professional, Margarida is especially passionate about
supporting veterans and displaced individuals in their housing journeys. Her work in real estate
goes beyond transactions—she is committed to addressing the systemic issues of housing
instability and homelessness through collaborative efforts with local stakeholders.
Margarida's multicultural and multilingual background—fluent in French, Cape Verdean Creole,
Portuguese, and proficient in Spanish—enables her to connect authentically with clients from
all walks of life. As a proud member of the Rotary Club of Norwich and the Cape Verdean
Santiago Society, she continues to be a driving force for positive change within her
community.
